Especially in areas where inventory is rising, both homebuilders and sellers are sweetening the deal for buyers with things like paid closing costs, mortgage rate buy-downs, and more. In the industry, it’s called a concession or an incentive.
What Are Concessions and Incentives?
When a seller or builder gives you something extra to help with your purchase, that’s called either a concession or an incentive.
A concession is something a seller gives up or agrees to in order to reach a compromise and close a deal.

Today, some of the most common ones are:

There’s no denying affordability is tough right now. But that doesn’t mean you have to put your plans to buy a home on the back burner.

Data from the Census shows the overall builder trend toward smaller, single-family homes has . ...

Why This Isn’t Like 2008
People remember what happened to the housing market back in 2008. And one of the factors that contributed to that crash was that there were too many homes for sale. Even though the supply of new homes has grown this year, the data shows there’s no need to worry. Builders aren’t overbuilding, they’re just catching up.
The graph below uses data from the Census to show the number of new houses built over the last 52 years. Foll. ...
